A former deputy governor of Anambra state, Dr. Chinedu Emeka has underscored the importance of science and technology in the socioeconomic development of modern societies.
Dr. Emeka who is the Senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, for Anambra North District in the forthcoming general elections made this observation during a campaign Ward Tour in Anambra West Local Government Area.

He assured that if elected, he would do everything in  his powers at the federal level to promote Information Communication Technology, ICT, in order to lift many Nigerian citizens out of abject poverty as has been done in the developed countries of the word.

The Anambra North Senatorial candidate of APGA recalled how as a former commissioner for Mineral Resources, Science and Technology, his team was able to lift Anambra from zero to the second e-governance after Lagos state in the country, adding that this has gone a long way to enhanced the socioeconomic well being and security architecture of Anambra state.

Dr. Emeka also advised eligible voters who have not yet collected their Permanent Voter Cards to do so before the end of the exercise on Friday, February 8, 2019, pointing out that  voting during elections is a fundamental  civic obligation of good citizens.

Other APGA chieftains who spoke during the Ward Tour in Anambra West included the transition chairman of the local government area, Sir Sylvester Okafor and the party's candidate for the State House of Assembly, Chief Patrick Udeoba among others.
