Baby Factory Syndicate Busted in Owerri


A baby factory Syndicate that specializes in camping pregnant young girls with the intent of selling off the new born has been busted by the Inspector General of police monitoring unit in Owerri.

Briefing newsmen on the issue, the Rivers State Police Commissioner, Zaki Ahmed stated that operatives of the IGP monitoring unit busted the Syndicate through credible intelligence information.

Zaki represented by the Deputy Police Commissioner, Cyril Okoro , said “the suspected Syndicate conspired amongst themselves and sold a two month old baby boy belonging to Nwalu Rita  at the sum of three hundred thousand naira”

The biological mother of the baby, 23 year old Rita Nwalu who absconded from her marital home in December with her four children including the new born, had sought refuge in the home operated by amember of the Syndicate, one Ngozi Egeonu through an old nurse in okigwe road, owerri, imo state.

Faustina Nwanekwu reports that the prime suspect and owner of the Syndicate, Ngozi Egeonu narrated that she had sort legal backings in all her dealing at  her mercy home.

Ngozi stated that her home duly registered with the corporate affairs in Abuja and referrals are often sent to her from the Imo state ministry of women affairs.

She said “On the of December a young lady came to my home with four children, she said the father of the older three was dead which her kids affirmed too, I advised her to go to the police and court and swear to an affidavit, which they did and the police  agreed to investigate the matter.

Meanwhile father of the baby and husband to the Rita Nwalu, Uche Duru said his wife left their matrimonial home with an intention to sell the baby.

The nursing mother of two months old boy is reportedly almost three months pregnant
