The Governor of Anambra State Chief Willie Obiano (Akpokuedike Global, Agunechemba), has been honored with excellence award for good governance and community development by the Alumni Association of the University of Nigeria.(UNN)

The Alumni delegation led by the National president, Barr Andrew Otu and other National Executive as well as zonal and Branch Presidents were in the state for their Annual General Meeting holding in Awka.

Gov Obiano while recieving the guests, said his mission in the state governance is to bring about transformation that would outlive his administration and present a viable model for subsequent administrations.

He observed that the choice of Anambra for the event and many other national events was a pointer to the enduring security that was thriving in the state. He therefore urged the participants to utilize the opportunity to move around, enjoy and feel the aesthetics of the town both during the day and at nights.

He thanked them for honouring him, and said he would redouble his efforts that has earned him the recognitions and promised to support the association as resources permit.

Earlier in his remarks , the state's Commissioner for Lands, Mr Okey Muoka who is also an Alumni of the University, thanked the Governor for identifying with the Association through the Numerous appointments of many of their members into his cabinet, adding that the state has been transformed since he took over the mantle of leadership.

Barr Otu also explained that the award was in recognition of the governor's numerous achievements mainly in the areas of security, infrastructural development, workers' welfare, among others.

According to him, the transformational initiatives of the Obiano administration was now being emulated and replicated all over the country hence the accolades he has been receiving both locally and internationally.
