The Anambra State governor, Chief Willie Obiano has commissioned the newly completed utilities building of the state's Universal Basic Education Board, ASUBEB in Awka.

The two storey edifice has various facilities that include two multipurpose halls, office spaces and conveniences. 

While commissioning the completed edifice Gov Obiano pointed out that it was the resolve of his administration to ensure that the State remains the first in education in the country, and therefore disclosed that teachers and all workers in the state would get a befitting welfare packages as a means of motivation and inspiring effective productivity on them, such as mass promotion,prompt payment of salaries and when due, payement arrears ,leave allowances and training and retraining of working for efficiency and better out ,he also promise to give workers rice every Christmas . He added that the promotion of deserving workers has been factored into the 2017 budget which he recently presented to the state House of Assembly. 

The governor also indicated that all his administration was doing towards improving the welfare of the teachers was to keep them motivated to ensure that they keep putting in their best in producing the best students. He expressed hope that the building will help address some of the challenges faced by the ASUBEB. 

In her remarks, the Commissioner for Education, Prof. Kate Omenugha stated that the State education sector, driven by the strategic vision of the present administration to ensure that the learning needs of all are met, has continued to record numerous advancements, and commended Gov Obiano for remaining true to his promise to turn around the sector. 

Prof Omenugha acknowledged that with what the administration has done in improving the teachers' and workers welfare generally, they owe it as a duty to continue to support him, to ensure that they continue to enjoy such largesse. 

The Chairman of ASUBEB, Chief Nzemeka Olisa noted that the project was executed with meagre resources in keeping with the stance of the present administration on doing more with less.

He thanked the governor for his support, which according to him, has enabled the Board function effectively.
