The Security operatives have assured residents and visitors in Ogidi of adequate cover all through the 3 day period of Nwafor Festival which begins today and ends on Sunday. The Police warns criminals to steer clear off Ogidi and its environs as they are ready to mercilessly deal with anybody or group with the intention to rob, steal or cause any form of trouble

A senior officer who spoke on the condition of anonymity told our correspondents who visited Ogidi that they are on ground to provide adequate cover and ensure a crime free Festival adding that enough cops have been deployed in strategic places for the crime free target to be achieved.

The Police as usual called on residents to assist their security measures by providing useful information from a scene where they notice criminal tenencies or acts of suspected criminals.

Our correspondent reports that Police have unleashed a good number of Patrol vans with well armed fierce looking officers on board the vans to oversee movements in Ogidi and its environs. Also on ground is community vigilante group who are ready to assist the Police in ensuring a crime free Festival.

In the meantime Ogidi and its environs have been saturated with the frenzy of the annual festivals with the youth having a good time to showcase the culture of their home land in colorful manner. Drink joints, operators of beer parlours and hoteliers have put their outfits in good shape and ready to serve customers the best.

Chuks Okerulu a beer parlour operator at Ikenga Ogidi told our correspondent that he is ready for sales and to give customers chilled drinks and other things including a life band, adding that he doesn't play with Nwafor Festival because it is lucrative as Christmas in terms of sales.

Our correspondent also reports that eminent personalities in the town have landed from their base to add color to the Festival. As usual the people will take the opportunity of the Festival to look inward and chart the way forward.

Our correspondent gathered that the major highlight of the Festival this year is the presentation of the great ijele masquerade to the world which is going to hold at Igwe's palace tomorrow.
