Easter Day Celebration: Nigeria Can Surmount Her Challenges Of Nationhood, Says Dr. & Mrs. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah
As Nigerian Christians join the rest of the world to mark Easter, Dr. & Mrs. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah has enjoined Christians world over to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ as a passage from darkness to light, saying "it marks the rebirth and renewal of hope to our people."
This is even as they affirmed that, "the suffering, perseverance of Christ on the cross and his ultimate triumph in the end which brought salvation to man also underscores resilience and how Nigeria as a country can surmount the challenges of Nationhood by the virtue of our “can do” spirit and collective resilience even in the face of uncertain times."
Reflecting on Easter's story of sacrifice as a reminder that self-giving must always triumph self-interest, Dr. & Mrs. Ubah, said, "The Death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ popularly celebrated as Easter is a significant date of great essence in the Christian calendar which denotes the redemption of mankind, giving Christians renewed hope of life and belief in God.
"The washing away of our sins, restoration of innocence and joy brought to us through the resurrection of Jesus makes it an extremely paramount Christian festival and one celebrated with the greatest joy.
"For Christians all over the world, the knowledge of the truth that Jesus died to pay the penalty of death that we deserve for our sins and rose with a glorified body, gaining victory over death and the grave is the foundation upon which Christian faith was built. Without Jesus' suffering, his execution and subsequent resurrection there would be no Christianity."
According to Dr. & Mrs. Ubah, "For however terrible the suffering was, it was part of God's plan for the salvation of humankind. Beyond the fanfare, this is a season of newness which avails us the opportunity to soberly reflect and remind ourselves that love, sacrifice, peace with one another and selflessness as clearly exemplified by Christ are attributes we must imbibe in our daily lives for harmony and progress to prevail in the modern day society.
"The suffering, perseverance of Christ on the cross and his ultimate triumph in the end which brought salvation to man also underscores resilience and how Nigeria as a country can surmount the challenges of Nationhood by the virtue of our “can do” spirit and collective resilience even in the face of uncertain times.
"As my family and I join Christians worldwide to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, it is our earnest prayer that the Almighty God who has brought every one of us this far will continually guide, bless and keep us together under the tenderness of his inestimable love and grace of Christ’s sacrifice. Happy Easter celebration!' they concluded.
