Morgan Tsvangirai, leader of the Movement for Democratic Change declared at the protest that the citizens were clamouring for fair elections in the country and not a revolution.

Tsvangirai had contested against Mugabe in 2002, 2008 and 2013.

In 2008, he got more votes in the general elections than Mugabe but did not get enough to win, according to the country’s electoral oversight body.

He said: “We are not demanding an overthrow of the government… We are demanding a dignified exit for the tired Mugabe.”1

“It’s time Mugabe listens to the voice of the people. The people shall liberate themselves.”32
